Lately, I’ve been pushing myself to expand my reading and experiment with different writing genres. Trying to step outside of my comfort zone, embracing new styles, and challenging my creative instincts. This month, I turned my attention to poetry—an art form I deeply admire but have often found intimidating.
With the help of some generous and insightful friends, I took on the challenge, refining my voice and experimenting with rhythm, imagery, and emotion. It wasn’t always easy, but the process stretched me in unexpected and rewarding ways.
Below are two poems I’ve written this month. One to follow on from last month’s short story theme which you all enjoyed and one for valentine’s day. They are the result of trial, error, revision, and the invaluable encouragement of those who cheered me on. To those friends: thank you for your guidance and support.
I hope you enjoy these final pieces as much as I enjoyed the journey of creating them.
Let me know your thoughts—I’d love to hear how they resonate with you!
One for Valentines day.
Thank you for all the support. See you next month.
